EMDR intensive therapy is a bespoke service designed to accelerate healing from trauma and distressing life events. It is an alternative approach to traditional EMDR therapy that condenses weekly sessions into focused full or half-day treatments.
EMDR intensives offer a cost-effective option that can yield meaningful progress within a short timeframe. Research indicates that EMDR intensive therapy can produce outcomes comparable to months of weekly therapy, meaning symptom relief may be achieved in as little as 1–5 days. EMDR intensives are structured and deliberate, ensuring depth rather than haste.

EMDR intensive therapy is appropriate for processing a wide range of distressing life events. The duration of your EMDR intensive will be determined by your goals for therapy and the complexity of the issues you wish to resolve.
A single-day of EMDR intensive therapy may suffice for an isolated traumatic event or sudden onset of symptoms following a stressful life experience.
Examples include:
Individuals addressing a specific issue stemming from multiple adverse experiences may benefit from a 1–3 day EMDR intensive.
Often appropriate for:
For individuals with complex trauma seeking comprehensive resolution, a 3–5 day EMDR intensive therapy programme is typically recommended.
Well-suited for:

EMDR intensive therapy follows the same eight-phase protocol as standard EMDR but without extended gaps between sessions. This continuity minimises disruptions, eliminates time spent reviewing weekly events, and ensures each hour is fully dedicated to therapeutic work. In contrast, hourly sessions typically include check-ins and check-outs which reduces the time available for active reprocessing of target memories.
For more details on the EMDR eight-phase protocol, please refer to the EMDR Frequently Asked Questions article, which provides an overview of the process and answers some other common questions about EMDR.
You will receive a preparatory workbook a few weeks before your EMDR intensive. This guide includes information, tools, and resources to help you prepare and maximise the benefits of your sessions. I recommend setting aside time each day to work through the materials. We will review strategies for using the workbook during your initial consultation, and you are welcome to email me with any questions
After your EMDR intensive, I encourage you to resume your normal routine without focusing on whether therapy was a ‘success’. Shifts in thoughts, behaviours, and emotions may take several weeks to become noticeable. Use your EMDR Therapy companion guide to track progress and note any significant changes. I will follow up by email within 2–4 weeks. If any unresolved issues remain, we can schedule either a brief EMDR intensive or a few ad hoc hourly sessions as appropriate.

If you are interested in EMDR intensive therapy, we will first have an initial consultation. This takes the form of a 60-minute appointment, held online via video call. The cost of this session is £80, payable at the time of booking.
At the initial consultation we will explore your symptoms or concerns and discuss what you hope to gain from EMDR therapy. You are also free to ask any questions about the EMDR intensive therapy process and my way of working.

The cost of EMDR intensive therapy is £480 per day. Typically, seven hours in total including an hour for lunch and additional breaks as required.
A half day intensive is charged at £240 for three hours. The timings of EMDR intensives can be tailored to suit induvial circumstances.
